Stoneham High School is seeking a licensed Special Education (Moderate Disabilities 5 -12) Teacher to join our Special Education Department for the 2024-2025 school year. Ideal candidates have experience providing Special Education instruction and services to adolescent-aged students within the secondary school setting.
Ideal Candidates:
- Licensed in Moderate Disabilities 5-12
- SEI Endorsement
- Classroom experience within the secondary setting
- Knowledge of and experience with completing and analyzing academic evaluation assessments (e.g., WIAT-4, GORT-5, etc.)
- Knowledge of special education law and policy
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
Responsibilities include:
- Creating a positive learning environment for students within the co-taught and Learning Strategies settings that align with Universally Designed Learning (UDL) standards.
- Collaborating with the Special Education Coordinator to support instruction and to ensure the delivery of services is in alignment with the student’s service delivery grid.
- Acting as Team Chair for Annual Review meetings for students on their caseload
- Writing, editing, and developing effective Individual Education Programs (IEPs)
- Co-teaching alongside a general education teacher within a core-4 content area
- Provide consultation to general education teachers regarding classroom adaptations, instructional modifications, and the needs of students
- Providing accommodations and modifications to students within the co-taught and Learning Strategies setting
- Differentiating research-based instruction and implementing specially designed instruction to meet the needs of all students
- Caseload management (e.g., parent communication, interdepartmental collaboration, etc.)
- Tracking and analyzing student data to identify progress and write progress reports
